Police Foundation Thanksgiving Heroes

This time of year we find ourselves in an attitude of gratitude ... thinking of those who, like you, have made a difference. With your support, San Diego is becoming a safer community and we at the San Diego Police Foundation thank you. By supplying the unmet needs of equipment, training and education for the San Diego Police Department and empowering the SDPD's crime prevention work, you are a partner with the Foundation in making 2011 brighter for all San Diegans.

Look at some of the things you have helped us do ...

  • Improvements and technology were added to the interview rooms at some of the area stations allowing the SDPD to gather accurate, in-depth evidence efficiently.
  • After the Mounted Enforcement Unit was eliminated due to budget cuts, The Thursday Club and The Gaslamp Quarter Association provided ATVs and bicycles, which are cost-effective, environmentally friendly and an efficient means for patrolling busy downtown streets and the terrain of Balboa Park.
  • SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices reached 1520 San Diegans, including 10,878 students ages 12 to 14, who are now less vulnerable to cyber bullying and online predators.

Living in this beautiful city and heading into the holiday season, it would be easy to forget that 24 hours each day, 7 days each week, the dedicated men and women of the San Diego Police Department risk their lives to ensure our individual safety and security. You did not forget. You helped. You are our Thanksgiving Heroes!
