Supporting police dogs? People like you.

The San Diego Police Foundation joins SDPD officers and citizens throughout the region saddened by the recent loss of an SDPD service dog. We strongly believe in the role of police service dogs and appreciate your continuing support. The SDPD Canine Unit is efficient and an alternative to lethal force. Gifts large and small are helping the Foundation fund the cost of young police service dogs who replace retirees.

"Inside SDPD"

Until a law-enforcement or public safety issue strikes close to home,

few citizens understand why cops do the thing they do. "Inside SDPD" is an educational program that gives citizens an opportunity to take on the role of a cop. Vehicle-stop scenarios, fire arms training and learning about police use-of-force policies allows participants to experience the responsibility and complexity of police work. Community support of the Foundation's work helps us provide funding for youth violence prevention programs, equipment to improve the operations of special units like air support, S.W.A.T., and K-9. And you help us provide tools that enhance elder-abuse investigations, domestic violence prosecutions, child safety programs and more.
