New saddles extend service

We recently awarded an $8,000 grant to the SDPD Mounted Enforcement Unit for the purchase of four new saddles. They will replace
15-year-old models not designed to fit the unit’s draft cross horses and will increase comfort and decrease injuries for officers
and horses. The MEU patrols Balboa Park, provides riot and crowd control, and assists with off-road searches.
Funding was secured from the Myron Eichen Memorial Fund at The San Diego Foundation.
