Grant funds S.W.A.T. equipment

Feb. 2005 - In October the S.W.A.T. team started training with new equipment facillitated by a grant from the San Diego Police Foundation. The grant was made possible by gifts from current and former S.W.A.T. team members through the S.W.A.T. Alumni Association. The equipment consisted of new pressure switch flashlights with mounts for 100 M16/AR15 rifles. The old lighting system left an officer in darkness when a second hand was needed to open doors or go "hands-on" with a suspect.
