KFMB Stations and Police Foundation fund cameras, keep cops informed

Jun. 2005 - The San Diego Police Department’s production of training videos, department communication and regionally-distributed legal updates avoids an equipment-failure interruption thanks to recent grants from the San Diego Police Foundation.

"We’re replacing two professional broadcast cameras that were about 4-5 years beyond their useful life and requiring thousands of dollars a year in maintenance expense," says Police Chief William Lansdowne. “Unfortunately, there was no place in the SDPD budget from which to fund the approximately $25,000-per-camera replacement cost."

“Businesses can step up to help,” says KFMB Stations President and Chief Operating Officer Ed Trimble. “The city is facing some tough financial times. And law enforcement is an area where charitable investments have a long service reach. There are many needs that most of us assume are part of the police department’s budget. But they’re not.” he states. “KFMB Stations is pleased to make this $25,000 donation in support of the great work of SDPD employees.”
